Below are listings of the various ministries of our parish.  

Our liturgy ministries includes Altar Servers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC), Proclaimers (Lectors), Sacristans, Greeters, and Ushers.

Let us respond to our baptismal call by following Christ and serving God and God’s people.

ATTENTION ALL NEW MINISTERS!!  A training for all NEW EMHCs, Proclaimers, Sacristans, Greeters, and Ushers will be held in the church on Sunday, April 7 from 12noon – 1:30 p.m.

ATTENTION ALL NEW ALTAR SERVERS!!  A training for all NEW Altar Servers will be held in the church on Sunday, May 5 from 12noon – 1:30 p.m.

Altar Servers

These young boys and girls come to assist the priest and deacons during the Mass.  It is an opportunity for full, active, conscious participation in our liturgies.  Servers must be 3rd grade or higher and be a registered member of Holy Cross Parish.  Both children and a parent must attend an informational meeting.  Training must be completed before they can serve.  Servers must have already had the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation.  They should arrive 15 minutes before Saturday/Sunday Mass.  Commitment varies as to availability and need.  All ministers are scheduled according to their Mass preferences.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion share the Body and Blood of Christ with their fellow worshipers in the assembly.  Ministers must be a fully initiated Roman Catholic.  These individuals must have a willingness to be of service to the community founded in the love of God.  Every 3 years you must attend a mandatory training to renew your commitment.  Commitment varies as to availability and need.  All ministers are scheduled according to their Mass preferences.

Greeters

Greeters welcome the people prior to the celebration of Mass and special Liturgies or events – greeters set the tone, leading their warm, welcoming presence.  They assist in various roles such as bringing forward the gifts and distributing bulletins or take home materials.  The ministry is open to families as well as individuals.  Greeters are asked to arrive 20 minutes prior to the beginning of Mass.  Commitment varies as to availability and need.  All ministers are scheduled according to their Mass preferences.

Proclaimers (Lectors)

These ministers are responsible for providing a prayerful and powerful proclamation of the Word of God at Saturday and Sunday Masses and for special liturgical celebrations.  This ministry is for those of great faith and devotion to God’s Word.  Proclaimers are expected to prepare the readings of the day from workbooks which are provided by the church.  Your gift of time will be to read at Mass as scheduled.  Commitment varies as to availability and need.  All ministers are scheduled according to their Mass preferences.

Sacristans

Sacristans prepare the Altar and items needed for the Mass. The ministry is open to individuals as well as couples.  Training is provided.  Sacristans are asked to arrive to set up at least 30 minutes before Mass.  Sacristans serve approximately 1 weekend a month.  Commitment varies as to availability and need.  All ministers are scheduled according to their Mass preferences.

Ushers

These men and women make Mass at Holy Cross an enjoyable and beneficial experience for all who attend.  They are there to greet and seat people, pass out bulletins and direct Communion.  Other responsibilities include taking-up the collection, straightening up chairs after Mass and assisting people with health emergencies.  Serving as an usher is open to adults as well as young adults over the age of 14.  Ushers are asked to arrive 20 minutes prior to the beginning of Mass.  Commitment varies as to availability and need.  All ministers are scheduled according to their Mass preferences.
